The interior of the cloves lives up to the Burgundy name, so while that may be how it was named, also is from the Burgundy region of France. A great Creole, but it has good years and bad as it stubbornly keeps growing high clove counts, lowering average clove size which makes the bulbs struggle to get bigger than their parent bulbs were. Ajo Rojo has adapted better, along with Donostia and Guatemalan, with lower clove counts that have improved bulb size over the years.
