Ozodlik garlic bulbs- a newly bred type from true flower production via pollination

Ozodlik

Regular price $10.00 Sale

Ozodlik- from the Uzbek word for "freedom." An exciting new garlic that attains quite a bit of flavorful heat in my soil, and is also a vigorous grower attaining good size in my climate. Downright sweet when cooked, almost more than a Rocambole. Also a truly prolific seed producer, if you're interested in trying that. Averaging a little over 6 cloves per bulb in my soil, they're nice and big if you like working with larger cloves too. It's definitely on my short list of varieties I expect to get popular with time, though being a new type, people don't know to ask for them by name yet! I believe they will, though.

Bred by Avram Drucker of Garlicana Farm, Ozodlik is one of the many results of his years of work in true garlic seed production (see more about true seed production here). Check out Avram's site to learn more about it, and his work.

It was originally the result of breeding the wild variety Kishlyk, which if my knowledge of Turkic linguistics holds true, has something to do with "suitable for winter or snow." Definitely true if that's the case. It overwinters quite well, and the vigorous cloves are well-suited to mulch-based growing systems.
